Working Principle of Electronic Ballasters

Electronic Ballast is a small device which has the ability to manage the initial voltage and operating current of any lighting devices which is built on the basic principle of electrical gas expulsion. It refers to a specific side of the circuit which restricts the flow of current through the lightening device and it can vary from being a single resistor to a bigger, composite device. In few fluorescent lighting systems such as dimmers, which are also responsible for the controlled flow of electrical energy to warm up the lamp electrodes.

It is essential for a lighting device which is based on electric gas discharge required the ionization of the gas inside the tube. This process takes place at a moderately high potential difference of temperature as compared to the normal operating conditions of an ordinary lamp. To get this there are three methods which are generally used are “pre heat”, “rapid start” and “instant heat”.  Also there are three main types of Ballasts, magnetic, electronic and hybrid ballasts which utilize a copper coil wound on a magnetic core as their important parts, while electronic ballasts used in solid state of electronic circuitry to provide the appropriate operating electrical conditions to the attached lamps. Magnetic induction lamps are also very popular these days.
